<description><![CDATA[<p>English</p><p>Dying in old age has become the majority dying of the developed world, yet older people are routinely denied palliative care, their dying characterized by failure to facilitate choice and recognize their needs. <title><![CDATA[Psychosocial interventions and mass populations: A social work perspective]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p>English</p><p>This article is one of the first to analyze international psychosocial approaches to large-scale disasters outside Westernized Eurocentric realms. Using the 2004 South-east Asian tsunamis as a basis, it highlights the potential empowerment and advocacy roles and strategies international social workers can deploy with populations affected by disasters.</p><p>French</p><p>Cet article est l&rsquo;un des premiers &agrave; analyser les approches psychosociales internationales des d&eacute;sastres de large &eacute;chelle ayant eu lieu en dehors des royaumes occidentaux eurocentriques. <title><![CDATA[Valuing interdependence: An examination of Iraqi Canadian acculturation]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p>English</p><p>This study examined whether gender, ethnic group, age, years in Canada, level of education and country where educated influenced the acculturation process for Iraqi immigrants to Canada. For the 153 participants in this study, a continuing strong identification with traditional values was found to exist irrespective of differences in demographic factors.</p><p>French</p><p>La pr&eacute;sente recherche s&rsquo;int&eacute;resse &agrave; l&rsquo;influence du genre, du groupe ethnique, de l&rsquo;&acirc;ge, du nombre d&rsquo;ann&eacute;es au Canada, du niveau de scolarisation et du pays dans lequel la scolarisation a &eacute;t&eacute; effectu&eacute;e sur le processus d&rsquo;acculturation v&eacute;cu par les immigrants d&rsquo;origine irakienne &eacute;tablis au Canada. This article discusses how university and non-profit social work professionals can create, sustain and benefit from internet communication.
