Women, migration and HIV/AIDS in Kenya

Maureen Mweru

Educational Psychology Department, Kenyatta University, PO Box 43844-00100, Nairobi, Kenya, maureenmweru{at}yahoo.com

English

This study focused on HIV/AIDS, women and migration in Kenya. Feelings of isolation, high costs of living, pressure to get married, and granting sexual favours to employers increased the likelihood of the women becoming infected. The government needs to tighten regulations protecting migrant workers and set up supportive networks for them.
